Day 2 of My Raw Food Challenge!

Are you ready to give it a try!

Day 1 went well and sailed through pretty easily.  Day 2 was a different story.  For someone who eats a lot of grains, some chicken, fish Vegetablesand a tiny bit of red meat, eating only raw and not being prepared can be issue.  I  definitely needed to have snacks, nuts and plenty of water around.  I had to run to the health food store across the street and great some raw nuts and dried fruit to get me through my busy day.  I had 2 appointments, yoga, yoga nidra, which I thought was going to be a fairly easy day. I found that I was spacey all day, not tired spacey, but more like I was having a tough time putting thoughts together and trying to explain something was difficult.  I wasn’t out of it or anything and felt like my awareness and insights were strong, but for me grains and protein help ground me.  My body does feel lighter, although I haven’t noticed my change in puffy stomach(one of the reason why I thought a raw food week would help).  I have been feeling like my digestion is off and even with probiotics, supplements and eating very well, I still had this bloat I just can’t seem to get rid of.  I had eliminated dairy, most sugars, expect a little fruit in smoothies and went lighter on my grains already.  Raw foods especially raw veggies contain a lot of enzymes.  Whole, unprocessed foods in their naturally raw state are high in fiber, potassium, and antioxidants, while being low in sodium and saturated fat. This keeps your gut and arteries clean, and reduces your risk for heart disease and diabetes.   My one non-raw food right has been some green tea.  I usually have black tea in the morning, so not wanting a headache for now a little green tea is helping and many raw people have between 75% to 95% of their food raw.  So, I think a little green tea is fine.

  1. I’ve been thinking of this in a strange way (I say ‘strange’ because truly it came from out of the blue, aka I’m not “the type”). But I was thinking maybe my entry would be the green juices or smoothies in the morning. Have you thought about Kris Carr’s ideas? Last night I watched a youtube video of her at the Wanderlust Speakeasy 2011 and it really had me thinking…. Regardless, much luck to you 🙂

    • Amy, I love green smoothies and have one several days a week in the morning, so does my husband! Kris is awesome and has some great idea’s and recipes! One book I read said give it a try for a week and see if you don’t notice a difference. The first session I do with clients is green smoothies and we do a green smoothie demo. If you need some ideas or support let me know! Good luck to you also 🙂
